Macallan Debuts 2024 Release Of Its Double Cask 18 Years Old

Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old, 2024 Release

The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old, 2024 Release features its iconic treacle toffee, sweet ginger, dried fruits, and nutmeg notes.

Macallan has unveiled the 2024 Release of its famed Double Cask 18 Year Old. Each annual addition of the Speyside brand’s famed double cask differs from the last, making the bottlings unique in comparison to other 18-year-old single malts that are regularly available.

The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old, 2024 Release (the distillery’s official name for the whisky) is balanced by European and American Oak, sherry seasoned in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. It offers aromas of dried fruit, ginger and toffee, alongside rich orange with hints of clove and nutmeg. The palate delivers raisin and sultana with notes of caramel, vanilla and ginger, balanced by wood spice and zesty citrus. Finally, the finish features warm oak spice with more ginger that slowly evolves into sweet orange

As part of the release, photographer Erik Madigan Heck depicts the Double Cask 18 Years Old, 2024 Release using plush gold velvet to bind the image, while nodding to the whisky’s “harmonious balance of flavour and long, warm finish,” says the brand.

Bottled at 43% ABV, the 2024 release is priced at $300 per bottle and can be purchased via the brand’s online store.

Macallan is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year and has been on a tear of new releases. In March, they finally unveiled the results of their partnership with Bentley. In February, they partnered with photo-realist artist Michelle Lucking to launch the second edition in its limited annual release Home Collection, River Spey. And in January, they unveiled Tales of The Macallan Volume II, the second edition in a collection of rare single malt Scotch whiskies which tells the story of the Speyside brand’s pioneers.
