There are bourbons you sip, bourbons you hoard, and then there are bourbons you listen to. Three Chord Bourbon whiskey’s new Volume 2 release might just be the first to ask you to drop the needle before you drop a cube of ice.
Founded by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Neil Giraldo, Three Chord has always existed at the blurry intersection of sound and spirit. But with Volume 2, unveiled this summer with a whole new visual identity, they’ve turned up the amplifier. Each bottle features electric concert photography—moments so alive you can almost hear the feedback squeal—and a design inspired by classic record albums.
“With Volume 2, we’re honoring the full creative experience,” says Giraldo. “From legendary musicians to iconic photographers, it’s a tribute to the artists behind the art. This isn’t just whiskey. It’s music, bottled.”
Volume 2’s rollout was celebrated at the Power Station in New York and Morrison Gallery in Los Angeles, venues as storied as the spirits themselves.
The lineup reads like a set list for a late-night festival:
- Flipside Triplewood Bourbon, starring blues legend Guitar Shorty—once described by Bob Dylan as a guitarist who “played with everything but his hands.” It’s a blend of Kentucky bourbons aged in American oak and finished in French and American toasted barrels.
- Hard Pressed Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon, featuring rockabilly pioneer Cordell Jackson, who in the 1950s ran her own label and pressed her own vinyl. A bold 100-proof bourbon that channels her rebel spirit.
- RIOT Double Bonded Rye, highlighted by the punk fury of The Darts. The first-ever Double Bonded Rye, it breaks through a forest of green-labeled rye bottles with hot pink attitude.
- Un-Edited, a raw, uncut 118-proof bourbon matched with the wild energy of Purple Disturbance’s frontman.
- Strange Collab, featuring Giraldo alongside Rick Derringer, finished in Strange Family Vineyards’ Pinot Noir barrels—an ode to friendship, loss, and creative legacy. A portion of proceeds supports the Johnny Strange Foundation.
Three Chord Bourbon Volume 2 isn’t simply a new collection; it’s a testament to the idea that whiskey, like music, can be visceral, rebellious, and deeply personal. You don’t just taste it—you feel it echo in your bones.
