Singapore’s White Shades Turns Level 1 Into Highball Heaven

White Shades Level 1

Level 1 at White Shades in Singapore has been revamped into a Japanese-inspired cocktail den complete with a variety of highballs and a new food menu

Singapore’s four-story cocktail haven White Shades has relaunched its Level 1 space, turning the former ground floor tea and confectionery room into a haven for highball connoisseurs. Along with the revamp comes a new bar experience where guests are invited on a “sensory journey” through all floors.

Located on Boon Tat Street in the heart of the Central Business District (CBD), White Shades’ revamped Level 1 space swaps its previous pastel tones for the darkened allure of an elevated Japanese speakeasy, complete with neon signs and illuminated backsplashes. A disco ball sparkles above, while funky posters and wallpaper pair perfectly with the sounds of the hippest Japanese beats.

Cocktail Menu

Level 1 offers a variety of White Shades Signature Highballs, including The PawPaw Plum highball, which fuses botanical gin notes with sour plum and soursop. Spear The Melon is crisp and refreshing, soothing senses with rum, spearmint, watermelon and ice-cold watermelon garnish. Mango Agogo features vodka and tangy housemade mango yogurt twirled with zesty grapefruit to create a bright and citrusy highball. The LycheeOo-Hi layers whisky with the deep yet naturally sweet flavors of lychee oolong tea, while the Smoky Inferno has earthy undertones, thanks to the combination of smoky and robust tequila, lapsang souchong and pineapple, topped with honey for sweetness and balance. Meanwhile, Japanese Kaku Highballs are presented in five distinct styles: Classic, Yuzu, Umeshu, Genmaicha, and Shiso.

The Refreshing and Zesty menu section offers a range of flavourful highballs, including the floral St Germain Highball, fruity Calvados Tonic and aromatic Campari Highball. Each highball presents a crisp bite of spirit or liqueur lengthened out with the fizz of soda.

Level 1 also features a revamped food menu featuring small plates of izakaya-style bites designed to complement their highball journey.

Additionally, White Shades also launched a new bar-hopping experience: Hop through the Shades. At just S$100 Nett, imbibers can embark on a journey through all three levels: Level 1, Rooftop, and Level 2, enjoying a drink of choice at each zone. The night concludes at White Shades’ hidden, invite-only bar with a bespoke cocktail created by Jiawei himself. Advanced reservations are required for Hop through the Shades.

White Shades is located at 25 Boon Tat Street. To make a reservation, follow this link.
