Colombian restaurant Celele and bar Alquimico will be taking over Notting Hill’s Viajante87 for one night celebrating their vast array of South American flavors
On Sunday 19th May, two of Colombia’s finest food and drinks destinations, Celele and Alquimico, will take over Viajante87. The London bar and drinks destination will host the South American creators for one night only, bringing Notting Hill a unique opportunity to try flavors from two of the continent’s top dining spaces.
Celele, known for its groundbreaking fusion of Colombian-Caribbean cuisines, will take over the kitchen, Cartagena’s series will make drinks. Part of a never before seen Supper Club series, The Culture Exchange, this is one of a select few dining experiences which Viajante87 will host throughout the year to honour the time the team spent in Latin America which serves as the inspiration for the bar. The series has so far seen restaurant Metzi with SubAstor, chef Diengo Chou with Selvática Social Club, and most recently Restaurant Gustu with Florería Atlántico, showcase their food and drink to London crowds. Later this year, Hanky Panky and Casa Oaxaca will take part in the series.
Celele Chef Jamie Rodríguez Camacho is known for his extensive research, spending over twelve years travelling throughout Colombia in search of its gastronomic culture and biodiversity. The menu focuses on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, and will feature four courses with ingredients which will bring the landscape to life in the English capital.
Alongside each of the dishes, the Alquímico and Viajante87 teams will prepare drinks designed to match the food on the night. The dinner will run from 5:30pm to 8:00pm and will be followed by a full takeover of the bar from Alquímico. Owned by Jean Trinh, the Colombian bar will serve cocktails that showcases Colombia’s biodiversity.
Each of the following takeovers will follow the same format with a once in a lifetime dinner from some of Latin America’s best restaurants and drinks from the region’s best bars. The schedule for the rest of the year will include Hanky Panky from Mexico City, No. 22 in The World’s 50 Best Bars 2023, with restaurant Casa Oaxaca, and Lima’s best kept secret, speakeasy Sastreria Martinez.
Viajante87 reopened its doors in September 2023 under the leadership of Bar Director Pietro Collina and Brand Manager Veronica Di Pietrantonio. The duo recently launched its full new menu inspired by the duo’s travels through Latin America.
