Massingberd-Mundy has released 150 bottles of an oak cask-aged gin.

Working under its Burrell’s, brand the English distillery used casks made from wood taken from a local oak tree to produce Burrell’s Oak Aged Gin, which will roll out on a limited basis.

Speaking of the new release, Massingberd-Mundy’s head distiller, Tristan Jørgensen said:

“Last summer we launched our first two gins, Burrell’s and Marie Jeanne’s, and the reception from customers, reviewers and the wider drinks industry has been amazing.

“This year, we’re doing something a little different and launching three exciting new gins in very limited numbers.”

“The gins will demonstrate the huge variety of flavours and styles of gin and set out to offer a unique twist to the country’s favourite spirit.

“I’m really enjoying the process of creating these limited edition bottles and I can’t wait for people to taste them – starting with our rich, smoky and sweet Burrell’s Oak Aged Gin, which goes on sale this month.”

The aged gin is infused with Tahitian vanilla, with notes of caramel, vanilla, toast and oak.

Massingberd-Mundy promise two more limited edition gins will be launched later this year, with 150 bottlings available of each batch.

The 43% ABV small batch release is available online from 13 August from the South Ormsby Estate website, for an RRP of £39 (US$53.84) per 700ml bottling.

If you can’t get your hands on a bottle of the Burrell’s Oak Aged Gin, Scottish distillery Eden Mill rolled out Oak Old Tom Gin, the inaugural release in its new ultra-premium Distiller’s Choice range back in February. Since then, they’ve expanded the series with the release of two limited edition gins aged in wine casks. Eden Mill’s head distiller Scott Ferguson and senior distiller Andrew Walker made the bottlings based on their personal flavor preferences.
