Martell Unveils Ultra-Rare Cognac Honoring Singapore’s 60th National Day

In the shimmering heat of a city that never stops building new towers, new dreams, and new futures, a small, quiet act of reverence has emerged: Martell — the oldest of the Great Cognac Houses — has announced a release so rare and so intimate it feels almost like a private poem. To mark Singapore’s 60th National Day (aka SG60), Martell has unveiled a once-in-a-generation collectible cognac: a singular blend, limited to only 12 bottles worldwide.

The numbers alone stagger the mind: twelve bottles, each a universe of time and taste, each a nod to 150 years of connection between Maison Martell and Singapore. That connection began in 1871 when the first cases of Martell arrived on Singapore’s bustling docks — a handshake across oceans, an agreement that some pleasures are universal and some friendships endure beyond centuries.

Martell’s Cellar Master, Christophe Valtaud, has summoned decades of savoir-faire to compose this tribute. “In crafting this cognac, I sought to create a blend as emblematic as Singapore can be,” Valtaud said. “It has a unique power worthy of the finest and rarest eaux-de-vie from the Founder’s Reserve, and above all, that characteristic historic cellar signature only old eaux-de-vie that have spent over 60 years in our cellars can express.” It’s a spirit that embodies patience — oak barrels breathing over decades, as if the wood itself were learning to whisper stories of old rivers and old gods.

Housed in a bespoke Baccarat crystal decanter, the liquid glows like an ember at twilight. The vessel is adorned with Singapore’s national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim — a symbol of resilience that blooms with reckless courage in tropical heat. Vines and grape motifs dance across the glass, echoing Cognac’s sun-drenched vineyards.

Each decanter rests within a handcrafted oak case accented by engraved gold-colored metal — an elegant conversation between old-world craftsmanship and modern Singaporean sophistication. This is not merely a drink; it’s a distilled legacy, a shared heartbeat between a city and a house that have grown up together.

Available exclusively to members of Le Cercle by Pernod Ricard, this release stands as an invitation to join a story still being written. For those rare few who hold one, it is less a possession and more a small, golden slice of history.
