London’s Newest Mezcal Bar, Little Fires, Aims to Ignite the City’s Agave Scene—One Vinyl Spin at a Time

Little Fires London bar Shoreditch

Somewhere just off Shoreditch High Street, behind the old stone face of a Grade II-listed building, a quiet agave revolution is underway. It’s called Little Fires, and it opened to the public on July 25, promising not just mezcal cocktails, but something deeper—more spiritual, more vinyl.

The brainchild of Christian Pecoraro, Florian Schulze, and Horacio Sainz, Little Fires is more than a bar. It’s a collaboration with Oaxaca’s world-renowned Sabina Sabe, and it’s staking an ambitious claim: the most exclusive agave menu in London. “We don’t focus much on volume,” Pecoraro says. “But on quality.” That translates to more than 70 curated agave spirits, from rare mezcals to premium tequilas, served with reverence and a twist of vinyl.

Yes, vinyl. Downstairs, beneath the main 85-cover dining room, you’ll find a full-fledged Hi-Fi listening bar, a warm cocoon of jazz, dub, and lo-fi grooves curated by Mauricio Díaz. It’s a nod to Japan’s 1990s listening bar scene—equal parts cocktail lounge and audiophile temple.

Upstairs, the cocktail list leans into agave-forward riffs with a seasonal bent. There’s a Clarified Coffee Negroni, a Chimichurri Martini, and the standout Corn Colada—made with Cazcabel Añejo, corn syrup, coco lopez, and pineapple juice. The drinks borrow ingredients from the kitchen to build a bridge between bar and plate, an intentional blend of flavor and context.

And the food? That’s handled by none other than Rodolfo Castellanos, Top Chef Mexico winner and chef-owner of Oaxaca’s Origen. The small plates menu includes tostadas, elotes, and ceviche—Oaxacan comfort food rendered with fine-dining finesse.

Little Fires has also secured an exclusive UK partnership with Asunción Mezcal, offering small-batch spirits rarely seen outside of Mexico. These mezcals are poured traditionally—or remixed into modern cocktails, always with respect for the plant.

So, yes, the team behind Little Fires has lit a fuse. Whether it becomes the epicenter of London’s agave awakening or simply remains a cult favorite, it already feels like a bar ahead of its time—smoke, sound, and soul in equal measure.
