Harrison Ford Praises Glenmorangie The Altus 25-Year-Old Whisky Release

Harrison Ford Glenmorangie The Altus 25-Year-Old Whisky

Scottish distillery Glenmorangie has raised the bar with its newest permanent release: The Altus, a 25-year-old single malt that has already won the approval of none other than Indiana Jones actor Harrison Ford.

Glenmorangie The Altus: A 25-Year Journey of Craftsmanship and Elegance

Masterfully crafted by Glenmorangie’s director of whisky creation and master distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden, The Altus is a tribute to the distillery’s 1995 Madeira-finished whisky. This new expression blends Bourbon cask-aged whisky with a finishing touch of Malmsey Madeira wine casks, delivering a complex marriage of creamy oak and vibrant fruit.

“The Altus’s 25-year journey is a true celebration of Glenmorangie’s acclaimed house style – presenting it at a new pinnacle of flavour,” Lumsden explained. “Our delicate spirit absorbs the creamy, fruity influence of Bourbon casks over decades, then is enhanced by a sprinkling of Madeira cask-finished Glenmorangie for depth and fruitiness.”

At 43% ABV, The Altus elevates Glenmorangie’s signature tasting notes of mandarin, peach, and pear with sweet butter candy tones, offering a refined and elegant whisky experience.

Joining a Storied Trio

The Altus joins Glenmorangie’s core lineup alongside the Original 12-year-old and the Infinita 18-year-old, rounding out a flagship trio of expressions. Initially, this limited release will be available at specialist retailers and Glenmorangie’s visitor centre in Tain, priced at £550 (approximately $740 USD).

Harrison Ford’s Genuine Praise in Glenmorangie’s Campaign

Ford’s admiration for The Altus was captured in episode 10 of Glenmorangie’s Once Upon a Time in Scotland campaign. In the episode, titled “Teamwork,” Ford is introduced to the whisky by senior tour guide Emily Ross and distillery manager Ed Thom. His genuine praise and good humor underline the reverence for the distillery’s craft.

“We were very excited to share The Altus with Harrison,” Thom said. “His reaction was very genuine, and he expressed sincere appreciation for the team’s craftsmanship.” Ross reflected, “Meeting Harrison Ford was unreal — he was humble, down-to-earth, and made the day unforgettable.”

Lumsden added, “We’re delighted Harrison Ford was one of the first to taste The Altus and that it met his approval.”

A Whisky for the Ages

The Altus 25-Year-Old is a fitting homage to Glenmorangie’s heritage and its continued pursuit of elegance and innovation — a must-try for collectors and whisky lovers alike.
