With two weeks to go before the grand unveiling of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2025, sponsored by Perrier, the extended rankings have been announced. The list of bars placed between No.51 and No.100 is now in the spotlight, showcasing a broader constellation of global talent in cocktail culture.
The rankings, now in their ninth year, are determined by votes from over 800 independent experts—bartenders, drinks educators, and writers—whose combined perspectives give the list its singular authority. The result is a map of innovation and excellence that stretches across 34 cities worldwide.
A Global Roll Call of Bars
This year’s extended list introduces 16 new entries, with debuts that span from São Paulo and San Francisco to Barcelona and New Delhi. Notably, two cities—Taichung in Taiwan and Medellín in Colombia—make their first-ever appearances.
The United States leads with eight bars across its most dynamic drinking cities: Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and San Francisco. Europe secures the strongest showing overall, with 15 bars featured, while Asia follows close behind with 12 bars, underscoring the region’s continuing rise in global cocktail culture.
Among the newcomers are Mexico City’s Bar Mauro (No.54), New York’s Schmuck (No.59), São Paulo’s Exímia (No.61), San Francisco’s True Laurel (No.64), and Hong Kong’s Gokan (No.70). Taichung enters the list with Vender (No.74), while Medellín makes its debut with Mamba Negra (No.81). London adds Three Sheets Soho (No.80), while Florence joins with Gucci Giardino (No.99). Closing out the rankings is Bar Carmen (No.100), a Medellín newcomer.
Other highlights include Buenos Aires’ Victor Audio Bar (No.87), Bangkok’s Dry Wave Cocktail Studio (No.88) and Opium (No.92), Barcelona’s Foco (No.89), Los Angeles’ Mírate (No.93), and New Delhi’s Lair (No.96).
Building Momentum Toward Hong Kong
Returning to Asia for its 17th edition, the main World’s 50 Best Bars 2025 ceremony will be held in Hong Kong on October 8. The event will gather bartenders, industry leaders, and cocktail enthusiasts for a celebration of the craft. For those unable to attend in person, the countdown will be livestreamed via the 50 Best YouTube channel at 20:00 Hong Kong time.
Emma Sleight, Head of Content for The World’s 50 Best Bars, framed the extended list as a vital part of the celebration:
“The extended 51-100 list is another opportunity to celebrate the passion, creativity and world-class hospitality that define the very best in the business. Today, we raise a glass to those venues that go above and beyond, offer congratulations to the incredible teams whose hard work has earned their bar a spot on this prestigious list and hope it encourages more people to discover their next drinking destination.”
The Broader Significance
For bar owners, inclusion—even outside the top 50—offers international recognition and an influx of travelers in search of new experiences. For drinkers, it offers a roadmap: a chance to explore the most exciting cocktail destinations before they become household names.
As the October 8 ceremony approaches, the stage is set for Hong Kong to host the world’s leading lights of cocktail culture, with the 51–100 list acting as both a prologue and a promise.
