The 10-year-old Wild Turkey Master’s Keep Triumph is the oldest rye whiskey yet from the Campari-owned brand
Rye whiskey’s rise in popularity over the last decade and a half has been somewhat stunning. After a decline in popularity post-prohibition, the style–seemingly suddenly–began to come back into favor thanks to its spicy profile. Recently, Kentucky-style rye whiskeys have become particularly in vogue, and now, Wild Turkey has unveiled its oldest rye whiskey yet, Master’s Keep Triumph. The latest addition to the brand’s celebrated Master’s Keep series is only the second rye to be introduced since it began in 2015.
Crafted by Master Distiller Eddie Russell, the whiskey was inspired by Associate Blender Bruce Russell’s–Eddie’s son–affinity for rye. At 10 years old, it is the oldest age-stated rye ever released by Wild Turkey and picks up its name, Triumph, due to the contemporary revival of the style.
The small-batch whiskey’s extended aging process gives it a sweet honey and warm spiced profile that’s a touch different from conventional rye. Bottled at 104-proof, the expression’s honey and clove notes transition to dark chocolate, dates and spice with a rich mocha-coffee and black pepper finish.
“The Master’s Keep series continues to be a display of our creativity and quality at Wild Turkey. We’ve always seen the collection as a vehicle to tell stories that celebrate our heritage and who we are as a distillery,” says Eddie Russell. “This particular release was inspired by Bruce’s fondness for rye and is a nod to his influence on my work. Triumph is a rye you’ll be proud to serve neat and is a testament to the tenacity of the spirit.”
The brand recommends enjoying the rye on the rocks or neat.
The Master’s Keep series launched in 2015 as a way for Eddie to showcase his approach to making bourbon. Triumph is the second rye to be released within the series, following Master’s Keep Cornerstone in 2019.
Wild Turkey Master’s Keep Triumph carries a suggested retail price of $275 and will be available in limited quantities via US online presale beginning in early June as well as in-store at select US retailers, and at the distillery’s Visitor’s Center.
