Malibu Rum And Dillon Francis Partner Up For The Coconut Challenge To Aid Businesses Impacted By COVID-19 Pandemic

Malibu Rum and Dillon Francis have teamed up for The Coconut Challenge. The DJ has remixed the 2010 hit, “The Coconut Song (Da Coconut Nut),” and is recruiting fans to learn and submit a video of the track’s associated dance, choreographed by Matt Steffanina, using the hashtag #TheCoconutChallenge.

For every video shared until August 24, the Pernod Ricard-owned brand has pledged to match $1 up to $250,000 to provide aid to businesses in need as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Previously, the brand donated $150,000 to the National Urban League in support of Black-owned businesses. Francis expanded on his involvement in the campaign, saying: “The Coconut Nut is a perfect lighthearted anthem for summer vibes, so I hope my new Malibu remix and #TheCoconutChallenge can provide a moment of reprieve while everything in the world still seems so uncertain.”

In order to join the challenge, film your interpretation of the dance moves by Matt Steffanina to the beat of the remix. Post it on Instagram using #TheCoconutChallenge and tag @maliburumus. Then check back on September 15th for the world premiere of The Coconut Nut Malibu Remix Video, where you might appear.

It has been 10 years since “The Coconut Nut” song became an internet sensation and now Dillion Francis is bringing it to an even wider audience via The Coconut Challenge, and it’s all for a good cause.

“The song has been around for a long, long time and has had lots of plays and downloads, so we thought it was a good fit with Malibu Rum and our coconut spirit,” said Troy Gorczyca, Malibu’s Brand Director. “It’s a great way to bring the brand to life and make the song more contemporary and inspire our target audience to dance and have fun and enjoy the summer fun in a situation that’s a little bit different than normal.”
