Scottish whisky producer The GlenAllachie Distillers Company has released the Meikle Tòir Turbo 2025 Edition, the third installment in its celebrated annual peated series. Following the rapid sell-out of previous Turbo releases, this limited-edition peated Scotch is generating significant anticipation among collectors and enthusiasts. Bottled at 50% ABV and priced at £55.99, the Turbo 2025 Edition is crafted during a six-week production window each year, highlighting GlenAllachie’s expertise in bold, peated whiskies.
Intense Peat Character from St. Fergus
The Meikle Tòir Turbo 2025 Edition achieves its signature smoky punch with mainland peat sourced from St. Fergus, delivering 72 PPM phenolic content—more than twice the 35 PPM in the standard Meikle Tòir range. Master Distiller Billy Walker explains that the Turbo series maximizes peat intensity without overshadowing the whisky’s signature heather honey character.
The whisky undergoes a 160-hour fermentation before maturing for five years in virgin oak casks and oloroso sherry hogsheads, which impart depth, richness, and subtle complexity. “Meikle Tòir has been met with incredible enthusiasm, with every Turbo release selling out at remarkable speed,” Walker said.
Production and Collectibility
GlenAllachie’s peated production represents just 10% of the distillery’s total output, producing roughly 100,000 liters annually. This limited availability makes the Turbo editions highly collectible. The 2025 release follows two single cask bottlings from July 2025, including a 6-year-old oloroso sherry hogshead, which sold out online within 24 hours, and a 7-year-old Pedro Ximénez sherry cask, available exclusively at the distillery.
Official tasting notes highlight aromas of manuka honey, toasted caramel, and smoked cedarwood, while the palate features heather honey, roasted hazelnuts, mocha, and smoldering oak, finishing with notes of dark chocolate and plum jam.
Craftsmanship and Sustainability
The packaging, illustrated by Scottish artist Iain McIntosh, reflects GlenAllachie’s dedication to craftsmanship and environmental responsibility, using UK-sourced materials. Since acquiring the distillery in 2017, Walker has refined Meikle Tòir to create a bolder, peated new-make spirit, establishing the Turbo series as a benchmark for intense, flavour-driven whisky.
Availability
The Meikle Tòir Turbo 2025 Edition is currently available at The GlenAllachie Distillery and through the official online shop, with global distribution planned soon. Collectors and peat enthusiasts are advised to act quickly, as previous editions have sold out in days.
