Edinburgh Gin has a knack for weaving its liquid identity into the fabric of the city it’s named for. The latest thread in that tapestry is a newly opened roof terrace bar perched atop the brand’s striking new distillery in the Scottish capital, unveiled just in time for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2025.
The distillery itself opened in December 2024, a sleek and sustainable site running on 100% renewable electricity, anchored by two custom-built 2,000-litre copper stills and walls of glass that frame the city as much as they reveal the production floor. Now, with the addition of the terrace, the project feels complete—a stage set for gin as much as for Edinburgh.
Cocktails in the Sky
From its elevated position, the terrace offers panoramic views of Edinburgh’s skyline, best enjoyed with a chilled canned cocktail made using the brand’s signature gins. As a playful nod to the season, every canned serve comes with a complimentary bamboo fan, a small souvenir for the hottest stretch of Scotland’s cultural calendar.
The timing is deliberate. “We’re thrilled to unveil our new roof terrace bar just in time for Fringe,” said Sarah Prior, head of sales and marketing at Edinburgh Gin. “It’s a beautiful space that celebrates Edinburgh from every angle, offering unmatched views of the skyline and a chance to enjoy our gins distilled just beneath your feet, all while embracing the city’s rich botanical legacy.”
Edinburgh Gin Rooftop Bar: A Garden of Botanicals
Just beside the terrace sits the distillery’s Rooftop Garden Bar, an enclosed oasis with a menu that leans deeper into mixology. Classic G&Ts and Spritzes are joined by seasonal specials such as the Rhubarb Frosé and the Rooftop Iced Tea. The bar also serves as the only place to taste—and purchase—the distillery-exclusive Rooftop Garden Gin, crafted with 16 botanicals grown directly on-site.
Beyond the Distillery
The opening of the rooftop terrace builds on a year of expansion for Edinburgh Gin. In 2024, the brand launched its first travel retail boutique at Edinburgh Airport, showcasing its portfolio of gins and liqueurs to the millions passing through Scotland’s busiest terminal.
The new terrace, however, feels different—less duty-free and more personal. It’s both a literal and figurative elevation of what Edinburgh Gin has been attempting all along: giving the city another reason to raise a glass.
