Danico

Danico - Paris

Danico adds inventive cocktails to the 2nd arrondissement’s eclectic mix of hip stores and diverse eateries.

Paris’ 2nd arrondissement might not be known for cocktail bars, but Danico is the exception. Dimly lit, yet still vibrant, it sits inside an art gallery with marble and striking patterns filling the high ceilinged space. The cocktail menu changes every six months, each time selecting a new country for inspiration. The drinks delve into the ingredients, history, and culinary techniques of each destination, while food comes from the restaurant, and is always Italian.

Head Bartender Corentin Gaudin tells us…

Please describe Danico as if you’re explaining the experience of walking through the doors and ordering your first drink.

If I were to invite a friend to Danico, I would tell them to come and taste innovative cocktails with flavours from around the world in a warming, dimly lit, yet vibrant atmosphere. I would mention that the music is very cool and that it’s a beautiful place located in an art gallery.

Other than Danico, what else is happening in the neighborhood that you’re in?

Actually, we are a bit alone in terms of cocktail bars, the closest one it’s the Experimental Cocktail Club and the Bachaumont hotel bar, but they are like 10-15 mins walking.

Aside from Happy Hour, when is the best time to get to the bar?

Opening or closing is the most “quiet” time to come, but for me the best it’s everyday between 8pm & 10pm or the weekend, it’s busy and the atmosphere is amazing.

Describe the average drinkers that you serve?

I would say our demographic tends to lean towards 30 year olds, from all style backgrounds.

Please tell us more about your drinks menu.

Our cocktail bar offers a unique experience: every 6 months, our menu takes inspiration from a different country. We delve into the history, culinary culture, and unique ingredients of each destination. Before crafting our menu, we travel to the country to discover hidden gems and connect with local suppliers. Right now, our menu series is focused on being inspired by Japan. Not only is our menu delicious, but it’s also visually captivating. Come and experience a culinary and visual adventure with us!

What’s your signature drink–or your favorite drink currently on the menu–and why should I order it?

I would say the Zaru Soba. Really “Japanese” looking and also the inspiration is the dish Zaru Soba. Here is the drink : 3S Barley Shochu, Wasabi Distillate, Sesame Distillate, Buckwheat Spice Mix, Cucumber, Tomato, Lemon, Togarashi, Soy Sauce, Soy Milk

How much do drinks cost?

Between 16 and 17€

Is there anything to eat?  If so – what’s your favorite dish on the menu?

The food comes from the restaurant, which is an Italian restaurant. The focaccia is really nice !

What are the distinguishing features of Danico?

Quality of the drinks, menu concept, research, hospitality, funny staff, good looking place, and we always wear black for some reason!

What’s that music we hear playing on the Danico stereo?

House music!
