Buckingham Palace Launches Ready-to-Drink Gin & Tonic in a Tin

Buckingham Palace Gin & Tonic in a Tin

For the first time, the British royal household is sending one of its gins out into the world in a format fit for picnics, park benches, and summer lawns. The Royal Collection Trust—a charitable department of the monarchy—has launched the Buckingham Palace Gin & Tonic in a Tin, a 250ml ready‑to‑drink (RTD) can combining Buckingham Palace Dry Gin with premium tonic water.

The release arrives just as the palace gates open for the summer season, when tourists and Londoners alike file through the gilded halls of King Charles III’s official residence. It’s a first step into the RTD category for the Royal Collection Trust, whose spirits line already includes Buckingham Palace Dry Gin, Buckingham Palace Sloe Gin, Pink Windsor Castle Gin, and Palace of Holyroodhouse Dry Gin. Each is infused with botanicals harvested from the gardens of the royal residences—lemon verbena, bay leaves, mulberry leaves—picked by hand on palace grounds.

When Buckingham Palace Dry Gin debuted in 2020, it sold out within hours. This canned version carries the same recipe, offering the convenience of a portable serve with an ABV of 6.8%. Retail price is £8 (US$10.65) per can.

Kaneesha Bose, head of central retail for the Royal Collection Trust, calls the RTD “a convenient way for even more people to taste our classic gin, uniquely infused with ingredients from the beautiful garden at Buckingham Palace.” She notes that the Trust’s newly granted wholesale licence means its alcohol range will, for the first time, be available to external partners.

The Gin & Tonic in a Tin is available at on‑site shops and cafés at royal residences, and as part of the afternoon tea service at The Garden Café at Buckingham Palace. For those seeking a broader royal spirits experience, the Trust’s range also features the Palace of Holyroodhouse Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Bottles are sold in the Royal Collection Trust shops in London, Edinburgh, and Windsor, and online at royalcollectionshop.co.uk.

As with all Royal Collection Trust products, profits go toward the care and conservation of the Royal Collection—one of the largest and most significant art collections in the world. Which means that every sip of this new canned G&T, whether taken on palace lawns or at a picnic table, is, in some small way, a toast to keeping the crown’s treasures in good order.
