Barbue Cocktail Bar Opening In The Hoxton, Lloyd Amsterdam Hotel

Barbue Cocktail Bar The Hoxton, Lloyd Amsterdam Hotel

Barbue [Bar-buwee]–the latest cocktail bar from Tato Giovannoni, Founder of Floreria Atlantico in Buenos Aires–is set to open in the new The Hoxton, Lloyd Amsterdam hotel. The cocktail bar brings European and South American cultures together and celebrates the rich history of the Lloyd building.

Barbue looks to be more than just a cocktail bar as it aims to be a cultural gathering spot that encourages the exchange of ideas from different locales  Featuring Italian accents and built from Argentinian roots in a building steeped with Dutch history, the bar offers a look and feel that’s all its own.

The space offers high ceilings adorned with the original light features and a mezzanine balcony overlooking the central horseshoe-shaped bar, where bartenders shake cocktails and guests are welcomed in front of the large windows that serve as a backdrop. It’s an extravagant look that looks to remind visitors of the Roaring Twenties.

Barbue’s cocktail menu includes a carefully curated list of Argentine amargos, such as Hesperidina, Pineral, and, of course, Fernet Branca. In addition, there is an extensive selection of European vermouths and bitters, bringing together traditions and flavors.

Founder and owner of Florería Atlántico Renato “Tato” Giovannoni created the menu at Barbue bringing his extensive knowledge and experience in the industry to the table. His Bar was ranked fifth in the World’s 50 Best Bars in 2022.

The concept of Barbue is inspired by the “bares notables’’ of Buenos Aires, combining the aperitivo hour and the “La hora de vermút”, known from the South of Europe. It pays homage to the special melting pot of cultures that has led to the unique way of making drinks and how the Argentinians enjoy them. Barbue embodies the spirit of South America with vibrant Latin sounds, live DJ sets on the weekends, and a lively informal atmosphere that transports you straight to the heart of the continent.

Barbue is open Tuesday through Saturday from 4pm to midnight. For more information or to make a reservation, head over to the bar’s official website.
